[Kira sits under the camera, grinning a bit in expectation. She takes a deep breath as she looks around, and then addresses her audience, such as it is.]

Okay, so after getting settled in the first thing I did was go up on the deck. It's funny how you see movies and look at pictures in books, but it's totally true that nothing can prepare you for how vast space actually is. It seems like people have two reactions to it, either they're completely overwhelmed by it, like in a bad 'I can't take this' way, or they think it's amazing.

[She leans forward earnestly.]

It's amaaaaazing!

[She bounces in her chair, though gradually she slows down, and settles into a more serious expression.]

I haven't been assigned an inmate yet, and to be honest, I'm nervous. I mean, I'm supposed to help them, right? But what if I can't? What if they don't want to be helped? What if I have to - I don't know, I'm not particularly mean or anything. But what if I have to be?

[Her mouth scrunches up a little.]

I'll figure this out. I have to.

[Maybe indicating she has doubts or worries about her performance as a warden is a mistake, but well, live and learn, little kitsune.]

I think most people who come here don't realize.

But that doesn't mean they're automatically going to fail. You should be supportive and help them to succeed, rather than presume they're going to suck.

[Maybe a little wry there, yes.]

I'm Zane. I run the garden.

I'm Kira. I...don't do anything yet. I'm still trying to figure out how to occupy my time until I have an inmate assignment.

[godsays]

What do you like to do?

[whatthefoxsay]

[She pauses for thought at that.] I like music. And I like to read.

[She feels awkward admitting that her kitsune powers allow her to use virtually any weapon masterfully, and she doesn't know that she's going to be a lacrosse prodigy yet.]

I'm good at research. I mean, I'm not a super genius like Lydia, but I'm smart.

[godsays]

There's an art room. I think it has instruments.

And there's a library.

Babs and Iris do research, too. They make things.

[whatthefoxsay]

Oh, I can manage a little on the piano and maybe two or three chords on a guitar, I'm really more about singing. And listening to music, of course. [Her expression brightens, briefly at the thought, and the she considers.]

I've met Iris, she's a really nice lady. Babs, I haven't.

[Wait a minute.]

Babs as in Barbara Gordon?

[She will not fangirl. She will NOT fangirl.]

You have met her, then?

[Sketchy Kira is sketchy.]

I've heard of her.

[godsays]

Are you from her world?

[whatthefoxsay]

No. I've just heard stories about her.

[godsays]

Oh. One of those.

[whatthefoxsay]

One of those what?

[godsays]

You mean she's a story in your world.

I thought we weren't supposed to talk about that too openly?

It's happened before.

My world isn't connected with those.

With the ones people believe to be stories?

With either. It's not connected with Earth.

[whatthefoxsay]

That doesn't mean there aren't stories about it. People on Earth make up stories about other planets all the time. But you'd know better than me about your home.

[godsays]

Have you ever heard of Scadrial?

Mistborn?

[whatthefoxsay]

Nope to both of those. But there are a lot of books I haven't read, video games I haven't read, all of that sort of thing.

Mine just isn't like the others.
