7th Tail - Paris Holds the Key to Her Heart

Would anyone be interested in going to a show at the Moulin Rouge with me? I know it's super kitch-y and touristy, but I don't think I can resist.

Does anyone have any cool spots they'd really like to show me? The first few days I'll be busy, but after that, I'm up for whatever!

You guys, Scott and I are going to be incommunicado for a couple of days. [Gosh Kira, between that clue-bomb and the way you're grinning, you may as well wear a sign explaining your intentions around your neck.] But don't worry, we'll catch up with you all well before we're ready to ship out!

[Don't ask how she did it, but Kira somehow did - she's managed to rent a little studio at the top of the stairs of a quaint little building in Montmartre. Perhaps it's where some famous painter brought an equally famous painting to life, or Christian typed out the final act of Satine's life Regardless, it has a lovely view of the Paris skyline, even if one has to climb up several flights of stairs to get to it.

It's only two, maybe three days if Scott presses, but they're days that solely belong to Scott and Kira. The street below has a grocer, a florist, and a cafe, so if the pair venture out of the little apartment for essentials, they're close at hand.

But chances are they're not venturing out often, until it's at last time to rejoin the world.]

[Kira absolutely adores Paris. Once her time frees up, she's excited for just about any offer to go anywhere within the city with those she considers her friends though when it comes to the museums she finds she far prefers the ones that emphasize history over art. Mainly she enjoys exploring the streets of the city themselves, but the thing Kira enjoys most of all? The food. If she didn't have a kitsune's metabolism she'd probably end up gaining a few pounds, but even if she didn't, at least going out and dancing helps.

In the end, she'll leave Paris having had the time of her life.]

[Her smile wavers only for an instant.] Lydia's um, kind of freaking out a little.

[Quickly jumping to,] But I love satin and silk! Lace is itchy, but I don't mind if it's trim.

Good lace isn't that itchy--but wait, Lydia's freaking out?

What's the Moulin Rouge?

It's a cabaret. They put on shows with can can girls. There was also an awesome movie about it. Well, not about it, but it takes place there.

Don't really know what a can-can girl is, either. I know it's a dance.

It's a kick line, dance, basically. They were the Rockettes before there were Rockettes.

And you just sit and watch?

Well, that part is a show, so yeah. But it's also kind of a nighclub?

That part sounds cool. Maybe. What's the difference between a nightclub and kind of a nightclub?

Well it's a cabaret, like I said. So instead of dancing, it's sitting at the tables and watching the performers. And there's usually a bar, and sometimes food.

Real clubs have bars and food and dancing. You don't wanna do that instead?

[Brightly,] No reason I can't do both!

Yeah, okay, good point. We'll probably be here for, like... how long did the castle port go on again?

A week, I think? Pretty sure that's how long we're here.

[And she plans to make the most of it.]

Incommunicado? What if there's a pack emergency?

[She's mostly teasing. Because she has the exact same plans for some point during this port if Stiles is up for it. But she doesn't have to announce it to everyone.]

[Kira's smile stays in place, if gets a little tight. She wasn't trying to be all...public about it. She's enthusiastic.]

I'm sure you everything will be okay.

[And they'll have their devices, but she's refusing to let herself feel like she has to explain herself to Lydia.]

I don't know, Kira. We had a full moon in Amsterdam.

[She really, really hopes nothing like that happens here.]

Maybe we should know exactly where you guys are at all times.

If there's a full moon - which should be on the local calender if it is - Scott will handle it. We're not kids, Lydia. And I'm pretty sure just short of alien invasion we can all handle whatever happens.

I'm sure if everyone takes their com devices we'll be okay.

[Lydia is about to say something when her boyfriend nudges her and gives her a look that she's fairly sure he mastered from her.

So instead she smirks, and shakes her head at Kira.]

I had not read that the Moulin Rouge is a popular tourist attraction.

[There is curiosity here, because he has read a lot about Paris, and he has heard mention of it enough to know what it is, but it does not make the short list for most Must Sees.

Then again, he has utterly failed to factor in that most of the lists he's researched have been for general audiences, including families with children.]

Really? It totally is. It used to be this kind of racy night club and cabaret. And it's still kind of racy, I guess? Except the standards for what counts as naughty are a lot different than during the nineteenth century.

So it is a... "naughty" attraction.

[Scott doesn't recognize the studio. He sat through maybe ten minutes of Moulin Rouge before the urge to skateboard through the house overrode sitting down to watch, but he loves the view and better than that, he loves the company. It's the morning of their third day in Paris, and he knows he should probably get up and go do, like, tourist-y things, but he's got an arm around Kira's waist and her hair smells really good and he just doesn't want to move. Possibly ever.]

Let's just stay here, okay?

[He noses at her shoulder, eyes still closed.] I'm thinking forever.

[Everything about this is ridiculously perfect and has been for the last three days. Kira has been ignoring that little voice inside her that is whispering that this means things are going to eventually go terribly wrong to make up for it.

Instead, she purrs with pleasure when he noses her shoulder, fitting her body against his and letting her legs tangle together.]

I kind of promised everyone we'd come back. [She's half laughing.] And the pack would worry. Do you really want a search party lead by Stiles and Lydia crashing through the door?

[Their regression to the mean can wait: as far as Scott's concerned, there's nothing supernatural here, no terror, nothing to come in and rip them apart. And for now, that's enough. Scott's good at living in the for nows.]

...No. [He has to admit that would kind of suck.] But maybe they're all too busy to come looking? [It is a vein hope, but he wraps one of his legs around hers and hopes anyway.]

What's kitschy and tourist-y about the Moulin Rouge? [She only knew it in its heyday.]

It's really now more a place for tourists than being a local venue for cabaret.

They ruined the Moulin Rouge.

[He might be grinning like a Cheshire cat right now, Kira. He's so glad you and Scott have figured things out.]

Aye, aye. [He winks and nods his head at her.] You two have a great time.
