[There's a point at which Kira doesn't realize she's sleeping. It's the deepest, darkest part of slumber and it's only the moments as her consciousness slowly elevates that such a deep level of sleep is truly appreciated.
But the next layer of consciousness is the realization that she's sleeping, and her brain weighs the desire to wake up versus the urge to sink back into slumber. Kira's not lazy by nature, but she's comfortable and the resonance of her dreams have been if not good, than at least interesting. Kira lets herself drift, and remains asleep.
Finally though, her brain and body have simply had enough rest. She can't really say where the uge comes from. Maybe it's a simple neurochemical decision. Maybe it's magic. Maybe it's some outside stimulus.
Kira opens her eyes.]

[Kira's awake. She smiles into the device's camera and offers a little wave of her hand.]
I'm okay now. I'm sorry if I worried anybody. I don't exactly remember what happened. The last thing I remember was being in the music room, practicing a song. I heard the Barge was at port while I was asleep, and I hope everyone's okay. Did I miss anything important? Does anybody need anything from me?
[Network: Pack Filter]
Sound off, guys. Is everyone okay?
[Network: Private to Facilier]
Check in with me, please. Also, I want to talk to you about Tucky.

[Died. Tiffany assumes she was revived, but the idea of people dying and coming back still doesn't sit right with her.]
... It could've been worse.

Who was it? An inmate or a warden?
[It matters because it ties into who petitions to resurrect them.]

I'm fine. [He's worried about Tiffany but she seems her usual chatty self and he's on his way to check on her personally, so there's that.] I wish it hadn't happened, but I don't think there's anything we can do about it.

How about we don't talk about her so she don't have any more ammunition to use against me?

[But from what it sounds like, Mickey went down too, which means Ian was more or less all alone.]
I haven't heard from Ian yet.
[Private]
He's... [He breathes in deep and lets it out slowly, trying not to let his worry show too keenly.] He seems okay now. [Maybe.]

But something feels...off. He just can't quite put his finger on it.]
I'm okay. How are you feeling? You okay?

[There's a sidelong glance.] Are you sure you're alright?

[He nods, looking uncomfortable.]
You missed a port. Which I mean, you know, because you said it already, so someone probably filled you in.
[That flash of white catches his eye again, but he doesn't look this time. He just needs sleep.]

He likes to think wandering her room helps. It's the kind of normal he misses, simple and nice and just very Kira. That's kind of a comfort all on its own.
(He stayed too long. He had his head screwed with. He keeps seeing things in the corners of his eyes, dancing couples, waltzes on bones. He's trying to ignore it.)
He's not at her side when she opens her eyes. Instead, he's looking through the knicknacks and pictures on her dresser, before sitting down on the edge of her bed, his back half toward her.]
I don't know if you can hear me. [He ducks his head, mouth moving like he's laughing at himself for doing this. But it doesn't stop him.] But uh, I really wish you'd wake up.

But it's been a long few days and the limbs need a moment. Her lashes are easier, so she lifts them, just a little.
There he is, and he's saying something she wants to hear. She opens her mouth and then pauses...maybe he has more to say. Maybe it's easier for him to say it if he thinks she's asleep.
Is it deceitful? Maybe a little. But let her rest another moment, and see if the True Alpha has anything to add.]

I wish this was easier, you know? Like, I thought dealing with a kanima, or an alpha pack, or a nogitsune - like that had to be the hardest thing I'd ever have to deal with.
[Being around her is hard in a different way. Being with her makes him want to forget everything else. Everyone else. But he hates feeling disloyal, doesn't know how acknowledge that loyalties, feelings, can shift.]
I, um. I heard you tell your dad you didn't want a boyfriend. [He laughs at himself again.] Sorry. I didn't mean to. And I keep trying to remind myself. Of that. It's not as easy as I thought it would be.

[Ben almost sighs her name, an exhale of relief, brief but genuine. He doesn't smile, but his eyes are bright nonetheless.]
Your friend was very concerned, as was I.
no subject
But which friend in particular did you mean?
no subject
He was concerned someone would think he had done something to harm you.
