[There's a point at which Kira doesn't realize she's sleeping. It's the deepest, darkest part of slumber and it's only the moments as her consciousness slowly elevates that such a deep level of sleep is truly appreciated.

But the next layer of consciousness is the realization that she's sleeping, and her brain weighs the desire to wake up versus the urge to sink back into slumber. Kira's not lazy by nature, but she's comfortable and the resonance of her dreams have been if not good, than at least interesting. Kira lets herself drift, and remains asleep.

Finally though, her brain and body have simply had enough rest. She can't really say where the uge comes from. Maybe it's a simple neurochemical decision. Maybe it's magic. Maybe it's some outside stimulus.

Kira opens her eyes.]


[Network: OTA]

[Kira's awake. She smiles into the device's camera and offers a little wave of her hand.]

I'm okay now. I'm sorry if I worried anybody. I don't exactly remember what happened. The last thing I remember was being in the music room, practicing a song. I heard the Barge was at port while I was asleep, and I hope everyone's okay. Did I miss anything important? Does anybody need anything from me?

[Network: Pack Filter]

Sound off, guys. Is everyone okay?

[Network: Private to Facilier]

Before I fell asleep, Facilier mentioned you have something of his?

...A talisman, in pieces. I dreamed of his death and it was with me when I woke.

[She's not mad, but she does want to know.]

Yes. I know it's been too long since then. A lot has happened, I've been busy with Tiffany and -

[He shakes his head.]

It doesn't excuse it. I'm sorry.

It's okay. I'm kind of glad you have them. [Though she does wish he'd told her.]

Do you have a way of confirming that it's...inert? Like, if you gave it back to him, would he be able to do anything he shouldn't with it?

[That makes two of them. He's so miserable and guilty about even the brief contemplation of taking whatever Facilier might have offered, he was hoping this whole thing would just go away by itself and he'd never have to think about it again.]

I don't know if I can say for certain. His kind of magic - I don't know enough about how it works.

It feels like more than just what it is, but that could just be the magic it used to have that I'm sensing in it.

[Kira hesitates a moment.] I've thought about giving it back to him, but I'm worried he'll be able to do things - magical things - with it.

Do you have any suggestions?

Why would you give it back to him?

[Genuine curiosity, not incredulity.]

I didn't say I will, just that I'm considering it.

It's a talisman, and it's important to him. It's a carrot versus stick thing, you know? And also a test. To see if he'll try to take advantage. At the end of the day our inmates have to want to be better. I have to figure out the balance between tough love and giving him opportunities to earn trust. This is one way.

Would you do it if you were me?

I'd do what I thought was right, knowing what I do about my inmate.

[And he doesn't know anything about Facilier.]

...if I return the talisman to you, and you to him, and he uses it to hurt someone, then I share responsibility for that.
