Kira can be found in a number of places throughout the Barge; the nogitsune's curiousity and trickster will frequently lead her into all the nooks and crannies. Even if the food served in the mess hall can no longer sustain her, she likes to go there because it's a social hub and it allows her to observe her fellow inmates as well as the wardens. As ever, she enjoys going on deck to watch the stars, and if she can persuade a Warden to help her, the CES will often remind her of home.

Of course, a girl's got to eat, and one who feeds on chaos, pain, and strife will not lack for nourishment on the barge.

[ He doesn't respond to the taunt. It takes obvious effort, but he more or less holds a neutral expression. Mostly. ]

[Another laugh. At him. At his desperation, at his inability to control her and his awareness of it.]

Jerry. If you want to make yourself feel better, if you want to make yourself feel like a real man by thinking you can force me to apply a little elbow grease? Think again. A thousand years, you think I've never toiled in a rice paddy? Or labored to climb my way out of a mountain full of bullet riddled bodies? You think hard work bothers me? Or that I'm too proud to do it?

Show me what a real man you are, Jerry. Come find me and make me do it.

[ His expression grows a little more stern. He'd challenged vampires face to face. She was no different. He would find her, if necessary. But not because of her challenge. That was the trick here, he assumed. To not be controlled by her. To not be afraid. ]

[The threat seems to amuse her more than anything else.]

Don't misunderstand me, Jerry. I know what you're doing. You feel helpless and out of control. Emasculated, as it were. You're trying to regain your power by exerting control over me. Because you can. Or you think you can. It makes you feel brave. You can persuade yourself that your fear isn't gnawing its way through your stomach the way I gnaw on that very emotion. You think me putting on rubber gloves and scrubbing away like a deck swab is going to somehow empower you because oh, look, you made the big bad nogitsune do something she didn't want to do.

[She sniffs disdainfully.] You think you're going to what, rehabilitate me? To do that, you have to understand to me. And the only thing you can manage is to play a little boy's game of king of the hill.

[ Some of what she said hit the nail on the head. And it showed. But there were other parts that were too far off base. It was the things she was wrong about that gave him the strength to take the rest of it. Apart from proving he was fit to stay on here and not be returned to his barge, he had no selfish motives in getting her to work.

He shook his head. ]

It's not about any of that. I'll be workin', same as you. Cause this place is rottin' from the inside out, and we've gotta do what we can to keep it at bay. We're all pitchin' in, wardens and inmates alike. It's got nothin' to do with rehabilitation. Only added benefit is if you put in enough time, I can give you access to restricted areas. That's the long and short of it.

So now you want to bargain. Clearly you're too incompetent to realize the carrot goes before the stick.

It's no bargain, and I didn't make that incentive either. It's Anya's rules. If you don't work, you don't get access. I already gave you my incentive. Report to Anya, or spend the night in Zero.

You may thing this is some sort of revenge or twisted...I dunno...grab at power. But I'm not like you, Kira. I hope that some day you're able to see that.
